The
C&E Program is designed to prioritize prevention
and early intervention services for children
who exhibit behavioral problems that interfere
with their learning process at school. The
program is also designed to strengthen the family’s
ability to cope with the overwhelming stressors
associated with the child’s behavior through
the provision of direct services and connections
with community resources.
Service
delivery is provided through a team approach
that includes the parent, child, the C &
E worker, teacher and school counselor. The
team works together to develop a family-focused
treatment plan that is centered on the child’s
and family’s strengths and needs. The treatment
plan is reviewed monthly and adjusted to compensate
for changes in the family’s situation and child’s
behavior.
C
& E workers coordinate all functions on
behalf of each child/family to ensure that all
human services and community resources are accessed
in a consistent and integrated manner.
The
C & E Program collaborates with 8 public
elementary schools within the Benjamin Franklin
Cluster, Community Family Centers, and the Philadelphia
Office of Mental Health to facilitate the development
of a comprehensive plan, and to build the necessary
linkages within the north Philadelphia community
to assure that a continuum of school-linked
behavioral health services are provided.
C
& E services include:
case
management services, including a psycho-social
assessment, monthly home visits, and visits
to clinical and community services which are
utilized by clients, crisis intervention services
for clients and their families, classroom workshops
for age-appropriate children that address such
issues as conflict resolution, anger management,
peer pressure, appreciation others’ differences,
interactive communication, relationship building,
decision making skills, stress management, and
the effects and damages of drug, alcohol abuse
and HIV/AIDS.
Consultation
services, including bi-monthly, specialized,
parent/caretaker support groups to help parents
effectively cope with their child’s behavioral
health needs, both preventively and for those
who have children with active needs.
