New
research suggests that the number of America’s
youth with emotional and behavioral problems
soared in the past two decades, in part because
of more poor and single-parent households.
The researchers found that problems such as
attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, depression
and learning disabilities more than doubled
from 1979 to 1996. The findings of this report
are indicative of the behavior health problems
demonstrated in the population served by WCA.
To address these problems WCA established its
Behavior Health Services unit in 1999, to provide
specialized behavioral health and medical services
including Outpatient Psychiatric and Psychological
Counseling, Respite Care, Therapeutic Staff
Support, HIV/AIDS Counseling and Consultation
and Education Services.
