The Alliance for Progress Charter School (APCS)
- Parent Contract

At Alliance for Progress Charter School we have a special mission: to ensure that all our children learn and thrive. To accomplish that goal, we need the full cooperation and support of parents, families, siblings, friends and the entire community that surrounds each child.

First, we need you to support your child's education by ensuring that your child attends school every day. Children can only learn if they are present. Absences place a burden on students who want to learn, because they make it hard for them to catch up. Children who miss many days of school suffer by falling further and further behind.

Second, we need you to make sure that your child is in school every day on time. We ask children to arrive at 8:15 so that the school day can start promptly at 8:30. Children who miss the start of school miss precious time to greet their teachers and friends, participate in morning discussion activities and become familiar with the plan for the day. Children who are late have a difficult time fitting in to the school routine.

Third, we need you to ask your child every day about school, to make sure that homework gets done, and to read with your child. Demonstrate how important you think school is by finding a quiet place in your home where your child can complete schoolwork and read with you.

Finally, we need you to participate actively in school as a parent, to attend all school activities, to attend observation card conferences, assemblies and student performances, and to become an active member of our Parent Advisory Board. Only by making your presence known as a committed parent can you communicate to your child how much school matters for the child, for you and for the entire family.

Please sign below and return this contract to the school office by the start of the school year.

I will make sure that my child arrives at school on time and ready to learn.

I will read with my child, ask about school, and make sure that homework is completed and turned in.

I will become an active APCS parent. I will attend parent meetings and school events regularly. I realize that education is a partnership and my child needs my support to succeed.
