Chief Executive Officer
Wanda Mial
WCA’s new Chief Executive Officer, Wanda Mial, comes to WCA from the Annie E. Casey Foundation where she served as Senior Associate. Mial previously served as Chief Deputy of Philadelphia’s Department of Human Services and now seeks to build on WCA’s core principles and expertise to broaden its role in catalyzing community transformation. Mial’s history of introducing best practices (both organizational and programmatic) positions WCA to make an even greater impact on the lives of the children and youth it serves, thereby promising even greater hope for the community as a whole. Mial’s key goal is to solidify and expand the organization’s role in stabilizing and growing its North Central Philadelphia community through developing strategic partnerships with key agencies, policymakers, funders, residents, and others stakeholders.
As an Eisenhower Fellow, October 2002, Mial explored the child welfare and juvenile justice systems in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and England. Wanda Mial holds a Master of Government Administration degree, earned at the Fels Center of Government, University of Pennsylvania. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Amherst College.
Ms. Mial’s current and former board memberships include the Henrietta Tower Wurts Foundation, Maternity Care Coalition, and Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Inc., Philadelphia Citizens for Children and Youth and the Chestnut Hill Health Care Foundation.
Ms. Mial resides in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia.
