Chief Executive Officer
Evelyn Jones Busby, M.S.W, L.C.S.W. became the President and Chief Executive Officer of Women’s Christian Alliance (WCA) December 2010. She is an industry leader in providing comprehensive integrated evidence-based practices for child welfare, mental, behavioral health and business and service management organizations. She comes to WCA from Busby & Associates Consultant to Management. She has provided consultation to human services and behavioral health leaders connected to over 75 organizations in the United States, Canada, England, the Middle East, Israel, South Africa and Scotland.
Her focus is on advancing the well-being of children, youth and families while building or transforming organizations. Previously Busby served as the Executive Director of the Achieving Independence Center in Philadelphia, PA (AIC) from March 2003 until August 2009. Under her leadership the Center became the gold standard for youth transitioning from foster care to independence and adulthood and the AIC was cited in several publications regarding promising best practices. These Publications included: National Associations of Counties, February 2008; Presidential Initiative of Youth Aging Out of Foster Care: Identifying Strategies and Best Practices, Casey Family Programs and the National League of Cities’ Spring 2009 publication and the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition by Philadelphia Safe and Sound 2007’s Report.
Before her leadership role at AIC Busby served as the associate executive director for Southern Home Services in Philadelphia and Mental Health Services Director for Turning Point of Washington County in Hagerstown, Maryland, creating organizational cultures of excellence and leading management teams to exceed program and financial goals while utilizing best practices and meeting accreditation standards for Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and KEMA, the American division of International Standards Organization (ISO 2000).
Busby was an adjunct professor at Temple University School of Social Work Administration from 2004 to 2006, teaching a course in Organizational Dynamics. She brings valuable leadership skills and abilities to WCA that will further strengthen the organization’s ability and capacity to respond to the needs of children and families and position WCA for growth in rapidly changing social, economic, competitive and political environments. Her vision is to transform the organization into a national brand, stamping its imprint on the human services industry.
She earned a Master of Social Work degree, with a management concentration and a clinical focus on children, youth and families from Washington University in St Louis, MO. Her undergraduate studies in psychology and journalism resulted in a Bachelor of Science degree.
She is a member of the Philadelphia Regional Cabinet for Washington University, President of the Board of Directors of 2020 Connections, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for Delaware Valley Christian Camp and public policy committee member of NASW in PA.
